CVE-2026-82649Public exploitHinoki check available

Local privilege escalation via installer search path

Published Aug 30, 2026 · Updated Aug 30, 2026

Uncontrolled search path in the SiYuan Windows installer for 2.0.14 through 3.8.0 allows local users to gain elevated code execution. The NSIS preInit hook invokes TASKKILL by name, and nsExec searches the launch directory before System32, allowing a planted TASKKILL.exe to run. Launching the installer is sufficient; an all-users installation reruns the hook with an elevated token, while the default per-user path runs the binary as that user.
