CVE-2026-82636

Dom0 code execution via shell-interpreted error filename

Published Aug 30, 2026 · Updated Aug 30, 2026

OS command injection in Qubes OS before qubes-core-dom0-linux 4.3.22 allows attackers in a compromised qube to execute code in dom0. In core-admin-linux/file-copy-vm/qfile-dom0-agent.c, display_error() interpolates the qube-supplied last filename into a dialog command and passes it to system() after sanitization leaves shell metacharacters intact. Exploitation requires a compromised destination qube and a user-initiated qvm-copy-to-vm transfer from dom0; successful commands run in dom0 and permit control of the Qubes OS host.
