Unauthenticated media uploads via omitted server validation
Published Aug 31, 2026 · Updated Aug 31, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in Cozmoslabs Profile Builder 3.16.0 through 3.16.1 allows remote attackers to create media attachments. The wppb_ajax_simple_avatar handler passes uploaded files to WordPress media functions without calling wppb_valid_simple_upload, bypassing server-side extension and per-field size checks. Exploitation requires a public registration form with Avatar Simple Upload enabled; it creates orphaned Media Library attachments within WordPress MIME rules, not default remote code execution.
