CVE-2026-82605Network attack vector

Editor hang via Lasso tokenizer infinite loop

Published Aug 31, 2026 · Updated Aug 31, 2026

Infinite loop in the Lasso tokenizer in Bare Bones Software BBEdit 15.5.0 through 15.5.5 allows context-dependent attackers to hang the editor. The tokenizer enters a nonterminating loop while processing untrusted Lasso content, but public sources do not disclose the triggering token pattern or unreachable exit condition. A user must open or otherwise cause BBEdit to tokenize attacker-supplied content; the reported effect is an application hang without confidentiality or integrity loss.
