Remote PHP execution via forged nocache markers
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Code injection in Smarty before 4.5.8 and 5.0.0 through 5.8.4 allows remote attackers to execute PHP through poisoned template caches. The extends: inheritance path fails to restore Compiled::nocache_hash, letting forged markers in assigned data bypass PHP-tag neutralization and enter a regenerated cache file. Exploitation requires enabled caching, an inheritance template, unescaped attacker-controlled output, and cache regeneration after compilation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
