CVE-2026-82525

Host file disclosure via Report.xml XSLT processing

Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026

XXE in Exterro FTK Imager before 8.3 allows context-dependent attackers to read host files through a malicious UFDR archive preview. The Report.xml parser resolves file:// external entities and runs msxsl:script from an attacker-controlled XSLT stylesheet, then places the resolved contents in an outbound image URL. Exploitation requires an examiner to preview the crafted evidence item, and the disclosed consequence is host-file confidentiality loss.
