CVE-2026-8251Public exploitNetwork attack vector

SMF crash via unchecked PCC-rule array write

Published May 10, 2026 · Updated May 10, 2026

Buffer overflow in Open5GS 2.7.0 through 2.7.7 allows remote authenticated users to crash the SMF via a crafted policy callback. The update_authorized_pcc_rule_and_qos function writes each supplied PCC rule into an eight-entry session array and increments the index without checking its upper bound. A caller able to send an SM-policy notification for an active session can overflow the array, corrupt session state, and terminate the SMF process.
