SMF crash via unchecked flowInfos array growth
Published May 10, 2026 · Updated May 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the Open5GS SMF through 2.7.7 allows remote authenticated users to crash the SMF via a policy callback. The update_authorized_pcc_rule_and_qos() path appends every flowInfos entry to a 15-element flow array without checking the upper bound, corrupting state consumed by smf_n4_build_qos_flow_to_modify_list. Exploitation requires an existing SMF session and low-privileged reachability to the SM policy notification callback; a crafted 24-entry list terminates the SMF process and interrupts session management.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
