Phishing redirects via protocol-relative return-to paths

Published Aug 29, 2026 · Updated Aug 29, 2026

Open redirect in Rodauth before 2.47.0 allows remote attackers to redirect authenticated users to attacker-controlled sites. The confirm_password, login, and two-factor return-to flows accept paths beginning with // and pass them to browsers as protocol-relative URLs. Exploitation requires an affected return-to feature, a crafted path selected by the victim, completion of the authentication action, and a browser that follows the redirect.
