CVE-2026-82454Network attack vectorHinoki check available

Account takeover via Apple JWT algorithm confusion

Published Aug 29, 2026 · Updated Aug 29, 2026

Authentication bypass in the Omnivore API before commit abf53d6 allows remote attackers to impersonate any Apple-linked account. The decodeAppleToken function trusts the JWT header's alg value and lets jsonwebtoken v8 verify an HS256 forgery with Apple's RSA public key as its HMAC secret. No credentials or user interaction are required; a successful request gains the victim's application identity without interrupting service.
