CVE-2026-82393Public exploitNetwork attack vectorHinoki check available

Arbitrary file overwrite via scoped manifest-name traversal

Published Aug 31, 2026 · Updated Sep 2, 2026

Path traversal in pnpm before 10.34.5 and 11.0.0 through 11.10.0 allows remote attackers to overwrite files via a tarball manifest name. The isolated linker passes a scoped package.json name through pickPackage.ts and into raw path.join calls without enforcing node_modules containment. A victim must install an attacker-supplied tarball; the write runs even with lifecycle scripts disabled and can replace writable startup files, Git hooks, or package code, enabling later code execution.
