Out-of-bounds read in the GIMP file-ico plugin on Red Hat Enterprise Linux allows remote attackers to crash GIMP via a crafted ICO file. The loader accepts the ICO used_clrs palette count without adequate validation and uses it for memory-bounds decisions, causing a read beyond the allocated palette data. Exploitation requires a user to open or process the malicious file; impact is limited to an application crash or disclosure of nearby heap contents.
