CVE-2026-82327

Tool crash via unvalidated filelist directory ID

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in libsolv allows local users to crash package-management tools by inducing processing of a crafted .solv cache. In repo_write(), the vertical/paged filelist decoder uses an unvalidated directory ID from KEY_STORAGE_VERTICAL_OFFSET data as a write index and stores the fixed value 1 outside the expected array. Triggering requires dnf, yum, zypper, dumpsolv, or another consumer to load and rewrite the cache; the bounded consequence is a tool crash, not code execution or data compromise.
