CVE-2026-82250Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Pre-auth client crash via empty side-band payload

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Integer underflow in GitoxideLabs gitoxide gix-packetline before 0.21.5 allows remote attackers to crash clients during fetches. TextRef removes the side-band identifier, then indexes d[d.len() - 1] to test for a newline without first checking whether the remaining payload is empty. A victim must clone or fetch from an attacker-influenced remote; the crafted packet aborts the client process but does not expose or alter data.
