Authenticated service interruption via arbitrary archive path
Published May 9, 2026 · Updated May 9, 2026
Path traversal in Gibbon before 30.0.01 allows remote authenticated users with Teacher privileges to interrupt the web application. The report ZIP import confirmation handler accepts an arbitrary archive path, attempts extraction, and deletes the referenced file whether extraction succeeds or fails. Teacher-level access is required, and targeting a web application PHP file removes it from the host and leaves the application unavailable.
