Authenticated database read and write via query concatenation
Published May 9, 2026 · Updated May 9, 2026
SQL injection in Gibbon before 30.0.01 allows remote authenticated users to read or write database data through Tracking graph requests. The graphing.php handler concatenates POST-supplied gibbonDepartmentIDs and gibbonPersonIDs into SQL fragments while binding only generated placeholders. Teacher-level or higher access is required, and the demonstrated injection alters the query executed against the underlying database.
