Unauthenticated account takeover via misdirected reset links
Published Jun 2, 2026 · Updated Jun 2, 2026
Privilege escalation in Themeum Kirki 6.0.0 through 6.0.6 allows remote attackers to take over arbitrary WordPress accounts. The handle_forgot_password() handler resolves the username, creates that user's reset key, then passes the request-supplied email to wp_mail(). No authentication or user interaction is required; knowing a valid username lets the requester reset that account, including an administrator account.
