Authenticated service crash via unsafe numeric conversion
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Uncaught exception in affected MongoDB Server releases allows remote authenticated users with readWrite privileges to crash mongod. The JSON Schema validation error path converts a malformed, user-controlled BSON array field name to a number without catching the resulting exception. A readWrite user must submit malformed wire-protocol BSON that fails an items type constraint; successful exploitation terminates the database process and interrupts service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <7.0.41
- Affected versionversion=8.0.0 <8.0.30
