Privilege escalation via stale pooled LDAP identity
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Incorrect authorization in MongoDB Server allows remote authenticated users to gain unintended roles through stale pooled LDAP identities. WrappedConnection returns an end-user-bound LDAP connection to the pool without unbinding, while getConnectionWithOptions skips rebinding when no query user is configured. Affected releases are 7.0.0 through 7.0.40, 8.0.0 through 8.0.29, and 8.3.0 through 8.3.8; LDAP authorization, connection pooling, and no ldapQueryUser are required.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <7.0.41
