Authenticated CPU exhaustion via oversized trim masks
Published May 13, 2026 · Updated May 13, 2026
Resource exhaustion in affected MongoDB Server releases allows remote authenticated users to exhaust CPU capacity via aggregation queries. The $trim, $ltrim, and $rtrim operators process a large input against a densely populated, oversized chars mask without an effective size bound, pinning CPU utilization at 100% for an extended period. Exploitation requires aggregation permissions; affected lines are 7.0 before 7.0.34, 8.0 before 8.0.23, 8.2 before 8.2.9, and 8.3 before 8.3.2.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
