Privileged password recovery via HMAC-MD5 configuration hash
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Weak password hashing in PLANET IGS-5225-8P2T4S V1 and V2 firmware allows local users to recover a privileged-mode password. The exported device configuration stores the privileged-mode credential with HMAC-MD5, allowing offline recovery from the weak digest. Privileged access is required to obtain the configuration file; disclosure is limited to the stored privileged-mode password.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
