Service interruption via unbounded PEF relocation loop
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Uncontrolled resource consumption in radare2 before 6.2.0 allows attackers to interrupt analysis by supplying a crafted PEF file. The Apple PEF loader accepts relocSecCount without bounding it to complete relocation records in the input, permitting up to 268,435,456 iterations and repeated buffer operations beyond the file data. Exploitation requires the file to be opened or inspected, after which normal format auto-detection can occupy a CPU core for an extended period.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
