Telemetry interception and alteration via ignored TLS configuration
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Improper certificate validation in OpenTelemetry-Go before 0.21.0 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read or alter log telemetry. The OTLP log gRPC exporter loads environment-provided CA and client certificates into cfg.tlsCfg, but newGRPCDialOptions ignores that object and creates credentials with system roots and no client certificate. Exploitation requires interception or spoofing of the collector connection with a system-trusted certificate and environment-only TLS configuration without WithTLSCredentials.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
