Output forgery via unescaped terminal control sequences
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
Terminal injection in Hex.pm Hex before 2.5.2 allows remote attackers to forge Mix task output via malicious package metadata. Hex.Shell.info/1 and Hex.Shell.error/1 print repository and documentation-search strings without neutralizing terminal controls or bidirectional overrides. A developer must run an affected task that displays hostile content in an interpreting terminal; the resulting effects include concealed output, forged URLs or commands, and clipboard writes where supported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
