Authenticated file read and write via path traversal
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Path traversal in Arben Ademi mcp-sequential-thinking 0.5.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read and write files. The import_session and export_session tools pass caller-controlled file_path values to file I/O without resolving them against the configured storage directory. Access to an MCP client or a prompt-injected agent is required; reads are limited to usable JSON, while writes and lock files are bounded by server-process permissions.
