Unauthenticated same-origin SSRF via unsanitized JWT key identifier
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
SSRF in SmallRye JWT's AwsAlbKeyResolver allows remote attackers to read same-origin data through crafted JWT key identifiers. When AWS_ALB is configured, AwsAlbKeyResolver appends the untrusted kid header directly to its key-fetch URL without rejecting traversal or query separators. The request occurs before signature verification, so no authentication is required, but reads remain limited to paths on the configured key endpoint origin.
