Unauthenticated SQL injection via forged payment callbacks
Published Oct 1, 2026 · Updated Oct 1, 2026
SQL injection in Paytm Payment Gateway before 2.8.9 allows remote attackers to alter database queries through payment callbacks. The check_paytm_response handler passes callback fields to saveTxnResponse, which uses them in a SQL statement without proper escaping; an empty merchant key permits forged callback checksums. Exploitation requires the WooCommerce gateway to be enabled without credentials, and injected queries can affect the merchant site's database.
