CVE-2026-8179Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via asperahttpd stack overflow

Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026

Stack-based buffer overflow in IBM Aspera HSTE and HSTS 3.7.4 through 4.4.7 Fix Pack 1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The flaw is in asperahttpd, but IBM has not disclosed which request field exceeds the stack buffer or the unsafe copy operation involved. A valid low-privilege account and network access to asperahttpd are required; successful exploitation runs arbitrary code on the host.
