Contributor payment settings compromise via missing authorization
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Broken access control in MagePeople WPEvently 5.5.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter site-wide payment settings. The payment gateway settings save handler and credential modals omit an Administrator capability check, exposing live PayPal and Stripe credentials and accepting settings changes. Contributor-level access is sufficient; the flaw can disclose payment credentials and overwrite payment configuration across the WordPress site.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
