Phishing redirects via unrestricted confirmation destination
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Open redirect in Groundhogg before 4.7.2 allows remote attackers to send visitors to external sites through crafted confirmation links. The email-preference confirmation flow accepts the redirect_to parameter as a post-confirmation destination without restricting its host to the WordPress site. No account is required to create the link, but a visitor must follow it; the redirect can lend the site's trusted address to phishing without directly changing site data.
