Unauthenticated order manipulation via unverified payment callbacks
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Authentication bypass in Paytm Payment Gateway before 2.8.9 allows remote attackers to mark unpaid WooCommerce orders as paid via forged callbacks. The plugin's payment callback handler fails to verify callback origin when its secret key is unset, then applies callback data to the referenced order and stock. That state exists immediately after activation unless a secret key is configured; forged callbacks can alter arbitrary order statuses and reduce inventory.
