CVE-2026-81717Hinoki check available

Integrity bypass and key precomputation via USB design

Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026

Integrity and cryptographic weaknesses in OpenSSL Encrypt before 1.4.9 allow physically proximate attackers to subvert portable USB drives. USBDriveCreator._verify_integrity_file checks only manifest-listed files, while drives without a salt file derive keys with the same embedded _LEGACY_FIXED_SALT. An attacker must be able to write to the removable drive; added autorun payloads can evade verification, and captured drive data is exposed to offline precomputed-key attacks.
