Local service interruption via unauthorized D-Bus configuration
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Authorization bypass in OpenSSL Encrypt 1.4.0 through 1.4.8 allows local users to interrupt its root D-Bus daemon via Properties.Set. The org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties.Set handler accepts any system-bus caller without a polkit check and assigns unvalidated MaxConcurrentOperations or DefaultTimeout values. The optional 1.4.x Linux service must be enabled; zero or negative concurrency makes every later operation fail persistently.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
