Site-wide image setting changes via missing capability check
Published Sep 20, 2026 · Updated Sep 20, 2026
Authorization bypass in NextGEN Gallery before 4.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to alter site-wide image sizing settings. The settings save path accepts a caller holding only the plugin's gallery-management capability and omits the separate options-capability check before persisting global values. An administrator must first grant gallery-management access; exploitation changes global image behavior without granting full administrative control.
