Code execution via faulty ZIP extension validation
Published Sep 20, 2026 · Updated Sep 20, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in NextGEN Gallery before 4.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to write files through ZIP import. The archive extraction loop reuses the extension variable as its counter, causing every extracted file's extension check to pass. An account granted gallery-management capability is required, and code execution occurs only where the web-accessible destination executes the uploaded file type.
