Full system compromise via malicious NASL test
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Stack overflow in Greenbone OS 5.0 through 25.0.5 and OpenVAS Scanner 3.0 through 23.49.3 allows remote authenticated users full system access. A malicious or compromised NASL vulnerability test triggers the stack overwrite, but Greenbone has not published the affected function or unsafe memory operation. Exploitation requires a network-reachable user account able to supply or run a crafted VT and yields full access to the scanner host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
