CVE-2026-81508

Adjacent heap disclosure via premature timestamp read

Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Espressif Systems ESP-IDF 5.5.5, 6.0.1, and 6.1 allows physically proximate attackers to disclose adjacent heap data. The btc_a2dp_sink_handle_inc_media() function reads a media-buffer timestamp before validating that the received packet layout contains the field, crossing the valid packet boundary. Reachability requires a paired BR/EDR audio source within radio range and firmware with BlueDroid Classic Bluetooth and A2DP sink support enabled; arbitrary disclosure and code execution are not established.
