Arbitrary file read via unrestricted upload path
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Path traversal in Daniel Popa LinkedIn Ads MCP 1.0.0 allows remote attackers to read local files through the upload_image tool. The tool passes its caller-controlled filePath to fs.readFileSync without canonicalization or an allowed-directory check, then uploads the bytes to LinkedIn. The attacker must be able to invoke the MCP tool; access is limited to files readable by the server process, and the documented path does not alter files.
