Local code execution via PATH hijacking
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Untrusted search path handling in OpenTelemetry.Resources.Host before 1.16.0-beta.2 allows local users to execute code on macOS. The host.id detector launches sh and ioreg by bare name, causing the process to resolve attacker-controlled executables through PATH. Exploitation requires influence over PATH or write access to an earlier PATH directory, and the substituted binary runs in the application's security context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
