Browser-mediated MCP access via unchecked Host header
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
DNS rebinding in Timescale, Inc. pg-aiguide 0.5.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to access its local MCP server through a browser. In src/httpServer.ts, httpServerFactory starts the HTTP transport without dnsRebindingProtection, so requests naming attacker-controlled hosts pass unchecked. Exploitation requires a visitor’s browser to reach the bound address; successful access permits reading and modifying data exposed by MCP tools.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
