User enumeration via forgot-password status discrepancy

Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 26, 2026

User enumeration in Automatisch 0 through 0.15.0 allows remote attackers to identify registered email addresses through password-reset requests. The forgot-password controller calls throwIfNotFound after querying the submitted address, producing 404 for an absent account while a present account returns 204. The route requires no authentication, and repeated status comparisons disclose account membership only; the endpoint alone provides no account access.
