Authenticated file read via directory-prefix collision
Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 26, 2026
Path traversal in ZLMediaKit at commit fa347d7dbe48dfdce525d3a0fdb92e576970ef9f allows remote authenticated users to read files. The downloadFile handler compares file_path with each api.downloadRoot using start_with after the loader stores roots without a trailing separator, so a sibling directory sharing the root's string prefix passes confinement. Access requires the API secret or a valid login cookie, and disclosure is limited to readable files under colliding sibling paths.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
