CVE-2026-81006

Unspecified impact via dangling IPMI sysfs attribute

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux 6.18 allows attackers to cause unspecified impact via a dangling IPMI sysfs attribute after registration fails. ipmi_add_smi() registers nr_users and nr_msgs before maintenance_mode, but its failure path removes only nr_users and frees the interface that backs nr_msgs. The stale attribute exists only when maintenance_mode creation fails; the source record does not state how attackers can induce that failure.
