CVE-2026-80972

Out-of-bounds access via unchecked card index

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in the ALSA aloop driver in Linux allows local users to trigger invalid array access via a sysfs-bound device. The loopback_probe function uses devptr->id to index index[] and other module-parameter arrays without first enforcing the SNDRV_CARDS bounds. The path requires permission to bind a platform device manually through sysfs; affected branch ranges end before 6.12.109, 6.18.50, or 7.2.4, and no further consequence is specified.
