Use-after-free via uncanceled RX worker during teardown
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
A use-after-free in the Linux kernel rtl8xxxu Wi-Fi driver allows attackers to access freed kernel memory during adapter disconnect. rtl8xxxu_stop() fails to cancel rx_urb_wq before ieee80211_free_hw() releases its private state, so the queued worker later dereferences priv and can re-anchor URBs after teardown. Reachability requires active RX traffic to push pending URBs above the watermark followed by a disconnect; the published record does not establish a demonstrated crash or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
