CVE-2026-80939Hinoki check available

Kernel panic via post-shutdown rfkill MMIO read

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

A shutdown race in the Linux 6.12 rtw89 PCI driver allows local users to trigger a kernel panic by initiating a warm reboot. The driver lacks a shutdown callback, so rfkill polling outlives PCIe teardown and rtw89_ops_rfkill_poll performs an MMIO read against a nonresponding device. Triggering the crash requires an arm64 system with supported rtw89 PCI Wi-Fi hardware, hardware rfkill polling, and authority to initiate a warm reboot.
