CVE-2026-80924

Derived-key disclosure via uncleared freed buffers

Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

Sensitive-data exposure in Linux kernel 6.15 allows attackers to find derived Kerberos keys in freed slab memory after cryptographic use. crypto_krb5_prepare_encryption() and crypto_krb5_prepare_checksum() release freshly derived key buffers with kfree(), which does not erase the key material before the slab object is reused. The public record does not identify how attackers can reclaim or read the object, so required privileges and practical exposure remain undisclosed.
