CVE-2026-8091Network attack vector

Code execution via incorrect playback buffer length

Published May 7, 2026 · Updated May 7, 2026

Incorrect boundary handling in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird allows remote attackers to execute code during audio or video playback. The Audio/Video: Playback component accesses a buffer using an incorrect length value, but public records do not identify the buffer or faulty calculation. Exploitation requires processing attacker-controlled media; Thunderbird disables scripting while reading email, limiting ordinary email exposure.
