CVE-2026-80855

Local denial of service via leaked invalidate lock

Published Sep 4, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026

Denial of service in the Linux kernel FUSE DAX path allows local users to stall later faults or truncates on an affected file. In fuse_open(), the fuse_dax_break_layouts() failure path jumps past filemap_invalidate_unlock(), leaving the filemap invalidate rwsem locked. Triggering requires an O_TRUNC open on a DAX-backed FUSE file and a signal that interrupts the wait for busy DAX pages to drain.
