CVE-2026-80836Hinoki check available

Kernel heap disclosure via unbounded device response

Published Sep 4, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel virtio crypto code introduced in 5.19 allows attackers to expose adjacent kernel heap data. The virtio_crypto_dataq_akcipher_callback function trusts a device-reported result length, and sg_copy_from_buffer reads that amount from a buffer sized only for the request. Exploitation requires a nonconforming or attacker-controlled virtio crypto backend to return an oversized length, exposing adjacent heap bytes through the caller's scatterlist.
